Professional wrestler Bayley has expressed her admiration for current WWE NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez, whom she dubs as the gold brand’s premier female competitor.
During a recent episode of “The Angle” podcast, Bayley couldn’t help but gush about the 22-year-old Perez, drawing comparisons between the reigning champion and revered WWE Hall of Famers. Bayley stated,
“Presently, Roxanne Perez is crushing it. As a former NXT Women’s Champion myself, I believe she is arguably one of the greatest, if not the greatest female champions NXT has ever had. Her performance thus far has been spectacular. I’m excited to see her take on more opponents. Furthermore, I eagerly anticipate her future in the ring because her skills are remarkable. She embodies the agility and acrobatic skills of Rey Mysterio and technical prowess of Eddie Guerrero. She boasts a highly versatile skill set.”
This is Perez’s second stint as NXT Women’s Champion. At the moment, her cumulative days holding the title is 233.
Meanwhile, Bayley’s own championship reign, which began after defeating Sasha Banks in 2015, lasted 223 days. It ended in April 2016 when she was defeated by Asuka.
Bayley was later dethroned as the WWE Women’s Champion by Nia Jax at the WWE SummerSlam 2024 event, after Jax triumphed in the Queen of the Ring tournament to earn the title shot.
In her latest title defense, Perez successfully retained her championship belt against Thea Hail of Chase U in the NXT Great American Bash event’s first week on July 30.
