In a recent episode of the “AEW Unrestricted” podcast, Willow Nightingale opened up about her upcoming title match against AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May at AEW WrestleDream 2024.

Nightingale expressed her disappointment over her loss to May in the finals of the current Owen Hart Cup, a defeat that has left her feeling slighted. The highlights from the podcast are as follows:

Willow Nightingale on feeling shortchanged: “I carry a lot of emotions and I’m busy planning my strategy because, as you pointed out, I have some ‘old wounds’. I won the Owen Hart Tournament last year but wasn’t given a chance to go for the title after that. So, I do have a grudge since the route she took to become champ wasn’t available to me.”

On losing to Mariah May in the Owen Hart Tournament: “That happens sometimes in life… That’s alright, it’s alright because when the time came, she did outdo me. Sure, there was some meddling from Stokely and Stat, but she did manage to pin me with my shoulders touching the mat.”

On her championship aspirations: “All I need to do is keep my eyes on the prize. I want to be the champion.”

In related news, as reported on eWn earlier, CMLL had to delay the bout between Toni Storm and La Catalina due to Hurricane Milton, as Storm currently lives in Florida.

Storm appeared in a short film during the CMLL Viernes Espectacular show on Friday evening. Despite the delay, the former AEW Women’s Champion assured that the match with La Catalina would be held at a later date.

She stated emphatically, “As you can see, I am sopping wet and not in an enjoyable way. Because of my tax situation, I’m currently based in Florida, and Hurricane Milton has grounded all possible flights to Mexico. However, despite letting you know that my match with La Catalina has been delayed, due to overwhelming demand, it will take place as soon as feasible.”

She wrapped up with a warning to her opponent, stating “La Catalina! You plan to pull the ‘chucha’ out of me? The only person allowed to take the chucha out of me and slap you with it is me. And then I’ll take hold of yours and use it like a party balloon. CMLL, you better brace yourself because I’m the Lucha-Whore and Arena Mexico is in for a shakeup. Keep your head high, be proud, and watch out for the shoe.”
