During a recent guest stint on the podcast “Busted Open Radio”, Will Ospreay, a popular AEW professional wrestler, looked back at his intense rivalry with Kenny Omega. He also took the opportunity to compare their remarkable journeys in NJPW.

When asked about his journey with NJPW, Ospreay reflected, “It upset me that Omega often belittled my efforts as he handed over the reins to me when he left New Japan. He told me, ‘Now it’s your turn to carry the responsibility and the audience will depend on you.’ I believe I did take charge of that and executed it in a way Kenny never could.”
Discussing about his struggle during the pandemic-era at New Japan, Ospreay stated “The experience was tough – like having your hands bound and being tossed to the ocean floor. Yet, I was somehow able to revive vibrancy in New Japan through those bouts.”
Sharing his feelings about Omega’s constant belittling, Ospreay stated, “Why would Kenny say, ‘So many fans returned just to watch Kenny Omega?’ I wanted to tell him, ‘While you comfortably settled into AEW and enjoyed your lifestyle in Jacksonville, we had different experiences here.’”
When asked about his response to audience reactions and criticism, Ospreay confessed, “I am always open to feedback and trying to improve because the truth is that I don’t have all the answers. I am constantly learning while I work- this has been my first year on weekly TV and it’s all a novel experience for me.”
