Will Ospreay defeated Kenny Omega at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II last night to regain the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship, completing his redemption arc.

Following the event, Ospreay addressed several topics, his recent injuries and health, during the post-show media scrum. Seen elated throughout the press conference, ‘The Aerial Assassin’ remained positive. However, he disclosed that he currently grapples with a chest deformity resulting from a partial tear in his pectoral tendon, a condition that is irreversible and will never fully heal. He said,

“I have a mad deformity there now. There’s like a little hole in my chest now I’m missing, I want him back, but it’s never going to come back. It was a partial tear of my pectoral tendon, so thankfully no surgery but I did need a lot of rehab and recovery.”

He also shared details of another recent injury he suffered during his match with Hiroshi Tanahashi at NJPW Resurgence. He added,

“Then there was an incident literally just last month when I was wrestling Tanahashi, I think it was May, it was still in June, so it was one month ago. I hit the Stormbreaker and my shoulder came out. I’ve never felt like that, so there is like a weakness here, but I don’t want to present that in these types of matches, especially with Kenny.”

On the flip side, Ospreay shared that he fortunately feels great apart from the expected immediate aftermath of a demanding 40-minute encounter with the Omega, being hailed as one of the greatest wrestling matches in recent memory.

“So, thankfully, it held together absolutely fine. I feel great, I mean like obviously like in terms of wooziness and like, I’m a little bit all over the shop, I just went in there and done a 40-minute match, of course I’m gonna feel like that.”

Earlier this morning, Ospreay heaped praise on Kenny Omega, tweeting,

“Kenny Omega is once in a lifetime. There will never be anyone that will be able to master the craft the way he has.”
