Wrestling superstar Will Ospreay has vocalized his solid support for Soft Ground Wrestling Uganda (SGW Uganda) and shared insights regarding his conversations with representatives from the promotion.
Ospreay has been consistent in his endorsement of the Ugandan wrestling promotion, taking an instrumental role in their procurement of a wrestling ring.
Speaking to Adrian Hernandez in a recent interview, Ospreay highlighted that he is presently involved in discussions with Soft Ground Wrestling and is trying to allocate a convenient time from his jam-packed schedule.
Ospreay elaborated, “I’m engaged in communications with them, attempting to work something out. But it’s a matter of finding the time. Balancing AEW, my family, and carving out some time to make a trip over there is tough, but their ambitions stir my passion.”
Fervently, he added, “Truthfully, it brings back memories of backyard wrestling in my own garden and they hardly have the same equipment we had back then… for me to affirm my status as the best wrestler worldwide, I have to leave my footprints everywhere, I’ve yet to do that in Uganda and I need to be there.”
Currently, Ospreay holds the AEW International Championship and is set to challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Title at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event in 2024.
