Will Ospreay, during a guest appearance on the “Grapple Theory” podcast, discussed the future potential of female competitors in Pro Wrestling EVE and commended British wrestler Nina Samuels for her contributions to the sport.
In 2018, Samuels joined WWE NXT UK but was let go in August of the same year after the merging of NXT UK with the main NXT division.
During the podcast, some of the highlighted discussions included the following:
When discussing Nina Samuels, Ospreay stated, “I express this with utmost respect for everyone, but Nina Samuels is far superior to many others in this sector and doesn’t receive the accolades she deserves. I recall from years ago, while she was signed with NXT. She said she enjoyed the indie scene. I felt that she needed to wrestle in these types of events because while NXT UK gives steady income, a lot of indie fans aren’t fans of it.”
With regards to how Samuels established her career, Ospreay said, “I appreciate it for what it was, but there was something fans didn’t enjoy. On returning to the independent circuit and consistently performing outstanding matches, she established herself as someone unique. She showed that given the spotlight, like what Eve has done, she can prove that she is a leading player. If I had the opportunity to sign anyone and it’s not my partner, I would sign Nina Samuels without a second thought.”
In another podcast called the ‘Wrestling Classic’, Josh Alexander, a former TNA World Champion, discussed his time with Ethan Page in TNA and his desired opponents in AEW.
In a discussion about Ethan Page, Alexander commented, “We were a great tag team. If you compared us Oand the rest of the great tag teams in TNA history, I believe we hold our ground pretty well. Our run was short. We’re the longest reigning tag team champions in company history until someone breaks that record, so we will be remembered in the history books.”
When asked about his preferred AEW competitors, Alexander said, “I could name about 40 people right now, but Jericho, Edge and Omega are on top of my list because of our shared Canadian roots. Being a Canadian myself, I’m always proud to represent this country. Wrestling against them would be a dream come true. I would also like to compete against Swerve Strickland, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Will Ospreay. However, Jericho, Edge and Omega remain the top three in my list.”
