Who’s The Biggest Threat To LA Knight’s US Title? | Question Of The Day

Another exciting eWrestlingNews Debate of the Day for wrestling enthusiasts!

In last night’s WWE SmackDown, LA Knight reclaimed the United States Championship from Shinsuke Nakamura. Several months after losing it, Knight once again owns the belt, interestingly just before WrestleMania 41.

Even with the unlikely event of Knight dropping the championship ahead of time—though not inconceivable—it’s likely there are plans for his title defense at The Grandest Stage of Them All. If Knight manages to retain his championship at WrestleMania, he will eventually lose it, with plans for that outcome possibly already in the works.

Here is a three-part question for you today: “Who poses the biggest threat to unseat LA Knight as the champion, and if you don’t surmise that happening at WrestleMania, what would be your strategy for Knight during this period and when should he relinquish his title?”

Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments.

My perspective on this is…

The reason I phrased this question in such a manner is that merely asking if Knight will keep his title at WrestleMania, a yes or no question, seemed a tad dull. At this juncture, we are unsure who his opponent will be, making it tough to predict if that would be the moment for him to lose the belt.

The wrestling card for this event is starting to get crowded, with not many vacancies remaining. A host of wrestlers could and might not feature in the card. For instance, I wonder if Santos Escobar will make it to WrestleMania in a singles match. He comes across as a possible player in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, if it’s conducted again this year, instead of continuing his saga with Los Garza in a bout, or challenging Knight again for the United States title, thus taking a spot that could be handed to more recognizable names.

A similar case can be made for Jimmy Uso and Andrade, both seem to be in a holding pattern. Perhaps The Miz and Carmelo Hayes can get mixed up, as they seem somewhat removed from the current tag team division drama. There’s a possibility of Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest being drawn into the situation, although it seems more probable they get a one-on-one match.

A match with multiple contenders feels almost certain, potentially including Nakamura. Though the more likely scenario would be a contest between LA Knight, Braun Strowman, Jacob Fatu, and Solo Sikoa for the title. However, if Strowman and Fatu end up having their own specialty match, it could boil down to Knight versing Sikoa, who needs something to accomplish—my preference is a match with Fatu, but this could potentially be delayed.

If Fatu somehow ends up in this match, then I predict he will claim the championship. I see him as the next potential holder of the belt. Nevertheless, my ultimate aspiration is for Fatu to claim the title after WrestleMania, enabling him to face Sikoa while allowing Knight to retain his title against the likes of Escobar, Andrade, Jimmy Uso, and perhaps Hayes.
