As seen on Monday night’s episode of RAW from Albany, New York, WWE SmackDown Superstar AJ Styles made a surprise appearance. This was said to have been a last-minute change that came directly from Vince McMahon.

According to a report from Pwinsider, the “Phenomenal One” arrived in New York City with the rest of the roster on Sunday after flying home from Saudi Arabia. The RAW roster then flew to Albany, while the SmackDown roster flew home for a few days off. AJ Styles wound up flying back home to Georgia on Sunday and was then forced to take another flight back to Albany after Vince McMahon made the call to feature him on RAW. Keep in mind that the flight back from Saudi Arabia is around 13 hours. A non-stop flight from New York City to Georgia is another 3 hours or so. And he had to do that twice – once going home and then again flying back when he was told he was needed at RAW. If Styles had known in advance that he’d be needed for RAW, those other two flights could have been avoided and he would have simply flown with the RAW roster from New York City to Albany. Styles then flew back to Georgia earlier today.

The report notes that McMahon personally requested to have Styles fly back to Albany to team with Seth Rollins in the main event of RAW. As far as the rest of the show is concerned, that went largely as planned. One source said it was “an easy night” overall in terms of creative and production.
