Who deserves to triumph in AEW Blood & Guts, The Elite or Team AEW? | Today’s Debate Topic

Welcome to yet anothereWrestlingNews Interactive Dialogue of the Day. This evening, AEW Dynamite showcases one of its most ruthless matches with the return of Blood & Guts. Team members from The Elite, including The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, Kazuchika Okada and “Hangman” Adam Page, will lock horns with Team AEW, including Swerve Strickland, Mark Briscoe, Darby Allin and The Acclaimed.

The intriguing question left to discuss today is, “Which team deserves to conquer in Blood & Guts?”

Please, feel free to share your thoughts and insights in the comments section below.

And here’s what I personally think…

Typically, I would advocate that this should serve as the climax of the rivalry. I believe Blood & Guts should be the end-game for dramatic conflicts like the Anarchy in the Arena. But I feel that this particular plot line has not reached its zenith yet.

I feel somewhat inclined towards The Elite. With the full team assembled, they seem to be gaining momentum. Considering the stakes here are not very high–Tony Khan, Kenny Omega and others are not really a part of this, and Adam Page has been kept slightly aloof–is this the grand finale? I doubt it.

Equally, does this AEW team represent the best to take on The Elite? While I adore The Acclaimed–as does everyone else–when I contemplated the potential contenders for Team AEW, they did not strike as top choice contenders. Except Strickland and Allin, of course.

Briscoe doesn’t rank that high in my opinion. Being the ROH champion, not an AEW champion, although it may seem like splitting hairs, his presence seems more dominant in Ring of Honor. If it came down to Team AEW vs Team ROH, Briscoe would rise to the top. But that’s not the scenario here.

This seems to set the stage for the second phase, more than a storyline-curtail climax. I predict not just a win for The Elite, but a necessary one. Specifically, I envision Page pinning down Strickland. Consequently, Swerve holds onto the AEW world championship against Bryan Danielson at All In, and then Page can challenge him for a title match at All Out.

In an ideal scenario, Page would wrest the title from Swerve and eventually lose it to Will Ospreay. Concurrently, The Acclaimed have their tag title shot and lose to The Young Bucks. Allin will likely challenge Perry for the TNT Championship at All In/Out and Okada and Briscoe will be involved in some other plot, unlikely to be a face-off.

For the storyline of The Elite versus AEW to end, it needs to revolve around Omega and/or Khan. But as I’m seeing, this match isn’t taking that turn. Instead, it’s shaping up to be a compelling contest with 10 skilled wrestlers battling it out.
