It’s time for yet another thought-provoking eWrestlingNews Question of the Day! During the unforgettable AEW Dynamite 250, MJF won his match against Will Ospreay in the nick of time, securing the AEW International Championship with only two seconds to spare. Despite his dubious use of the Dynamite Diamond Ring, MJF walks away as the new champion.
Which leads us to today’s burning question: “Who should be the one to dethrone MJF and seize the AEW international championship? How and when should this happen?”
Whilst the title has just been transferred, looking far into the future and predicting what might happen is part of the captivating world of wrestling and lets us see how accurate our guesses were.

Moving on to my answer…
Many may be tempted to answer Will Ospreay, but I’m considering a different route. Although a return for Ospreay wouldn’t be unwelcome, I believe he’s already usurped the rank of this mid-level title. MJF, without an immediate AEW World Championship challenge in sight, gets to stay busy in the meantime. I envision Ospreay taking on Hangman Adam Page somewhere in 2025.
I can think of a few wrestlers who would be good contenders. For honorable mentions, candidates like Adam Copeland, Bryan Danielson, Orange Cassidy, Samoa Joe, and Wardlow cross my mind.
However, my top picks are either one currently in the company —Daniel Garcia —or an un-signed prospect—Ricochet.
With Ricochet, this takes us deep into speculative territory as he’s not even on the company roster yet, with no AEW appearances to his name. Still, it is likely that he will join AEW, where he’ll have the opportunity to pursue a title. Ricochet could sell the feud with his impressive athletic prowess even though MJF has a knack for igniting tension. A victory over an esteemed wrestler like MJF would significantly boost Ricochet’s standing. Fans will need to reconcile that joining AEW does not guarantee a rise in wrestling ranks; many WWE Superstars maintain their standing even after switching over.
Daniel Garcia, although a rather straightforward choice, holds promise. MJF does not need a lofty title reign, and the storyline involving MJF, Garcia, and Ospreay lends him credibility. After failing against Ospreay and bearing the brunt of MJF’s aggression, Garcia’s path seems set for revenge against MJF, who now holds the title he seeks.
Garcia has been the underdog for quite some time, always coming close to a title but failing in the end. He needs a victory soon for fans to take him seriously and invest emotionally in his journey. A title win could rekindle interest and support from fans, who may have become disillusioned after his numerous losses.
Perhaps by the time of All In, Garcia’s journey towards taking revenge on MJF and claiming the title will begin. If not, All Out seems another viable option. A moment of victory for Garcia would surely be a sight to behold.
