A warm welcome back to another dynamic interlude of eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
With a two-year hiatus from the wrestling world, Scorpio Sky dramatically returned to All Elite Wrestling at AEW Collision 100, responding to Max Caster’s daring open challenge of Who Can Survive the Best Wrestler Alive? Scorpio Sky emerged victorious in almost a minute, supported by Top Flight and Christopher Daniels. The latter seems to be taking on the role of his manager post-retirement.
Which brings us to today’s question – “What’s next for Scorpio Sky? Does he have the potential to make a significant leap, or has he already reached his zenith?”

Straight off the bat, my thoughts…
Given the dynamics of the wrestling world, I’m not optimistic about Scorpio Sky claiming further championships in AEW before he hangs up his wrestling boots. This, of course, is pure conjecture since his retirement plans are unknown. But his past performance offers some hints.
He’s been out of action for two solid years. Not due to injuries, as evidenced by his participation in 11 matches with other promotions post-September 2024. AEW could have just as easily brought him back on screen anytime over the past year but chose not to. The reasons, contract disagreements, or otherwise remain a mystery.
Going back further, Scorpio Sky was one of the original pillars of AEW, an entity hugely different from today’s version. Back then, his reputation in the indie circuit positioned him as a heavyweight candidate for the tag team championship and potential mid-carder. However, an influx of WWE and New Japan talent into AEW has seen him pushed down the pecking order. Despite losing the TNT title to Wardlow, he was deemed too regular to stand out, leading to an interim stint with Ring of Honor before he vanished.
I view Sky as a ‘could-have-been’, someone who under different circumstances – say a younger age or NXT’s evolution into a serious competition earlier – could’ve been a central figure in AEW or a long-standing force in WWE. A world title in either platform would’ve been a tall order, and it’s unlikely that a significant push in 2025 would shift the scales significantly. I suspect his current popularity might offer some temporary traction, but soon he may find himself among the regulars facing the likes of Konosuke Takeshita, Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher and other stars. He might eventually return to Ring of Honor to serve as a reliable player.
It would indeed be rewarding if Sky can prove me wrong and carve out something extraordinary from this opportunity.
