On this week’s episode of WWE NXT, Lee came to the ring and announced that he would be unable to face Dominik Mysterio at this Saturday’s NXT Deadline pay-per-view event in Bridgeport, CT. In his promo, which involved Lee shedding some tears, he confirmed that he would need to underdo surgery. He ended by saying “this is not goodbye but see you later.”
At that point, Dominik Mysterio came out and cut a heel promo about how he took Lee out and would “now have this Saturday night off to spend with Mami.” Rey Mysterio then appeared on the screen to announce that his son will face Dragon Lee in a title defense at Deadline 2023.
Lee’s back injury is legitimate and he’s expected to be out of action between eight and twelve months.
