This evening at NXT: No Mercy 2024, taking place in Denver, Colorado, Wes Lee is set to face off against Zachary Wentz.
Lee commented on the upcoming match during his latest guest spot on “The Ringer Wrestling Show.” Importantly, he pointed out that this is the only clash of the evening that doesn’t involve a title at NXT: No Mercy 2024.
Key points from the podcast are shared below:
Regarding the match not involving a championship: “I wouldn’t want to say I consider myself superior to a title because I’m relentlessly pursuing those championships, yet I am already a superstar. My star shines bright. I don’t require a championship to affirm my superstatus, hence [Wentz] should count himself lucky to be competing against me, even getting the advantage that he is. But, I’m also aware he has a point to prove. And I’m equally certain that I’m the most suitable one to draw that out of him.”
About Wentz’s chance in the match: “If he really believes this is his rightful platform once again, then he must validate it against the benchmark of NXT. I personify NXT, full stop.”
