In the latest episode of the “AEW Unrestricted” podcast, the Von Erich clan – composed of Ross and Marshall Von Erich, recap their notable showdown with the Briscoe brothers (Jay and Mark Briscoe) as part of Ric Flair’s farewell match event held in July 2022.
Despite their best efforts, the Von Erichs were bested by the formidable Briscoes in a tense tag team encounter. Sadly, Jay Briscoe’s life was cut short in a devastating vehicular accident in January 2023.

Marshall Von Erich on finding common ground with The Briscoes: “We’re quite quirky people, me and my brother. We’re introverts, often disappearing to explore or to think — a habit that puzzles Dustin. The only other people we’ve met with similar behavior were the Briscoes at the Ric Flair event.”
Marshall Von Erich on how travel issues nearly made them miss the event: “We arrived just around 15 minutes before our scheduled match. Our match was then postponed to the penultimate event, which meant we had no time to discuss any strategy or moves. We had to think on our feet, and yet, after the match, we held such high regard for the Briscoes. Their brotherly bond mirrored our own, and they offered us invaluable advice.”
