In a recent episode of the “AEW Unrestricted” podcast, professional wrestler Viva Van opened up about her experience of stepping into the world of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and the faith that CEO Tony Khan has placed in her abilities.
Highlighted quotes from the podcast can be found below:
Viva Van shared her excitement upon signing her contract, stating, “I told my boyfriend first, followed by my family… it felt like my eight years of training and seven years of in-ring work has finally paid off.”
When discussing the moment she realized that Khan believed in her talents, she mentioned, “A lot of us have known each other from independently working matches, that’s what helped… Having a rematch with Willow and Lluvia for the CMLL Women’s World Title, followed by appearing as a dinosaur at a comic con for AEW, made Tony think I am ready for hard work.”
In another recent episode of the “Battleground” podcast, Tony Khan, President of AEW, spoke about the organization’s choice to host their latest TV events in smaller settings.
Khan hopes to foster a more engaging environment for the attendees, and improve the overall broadcast experience.
Podcast highlights include Khan’s thoughts on moving AEW events to cozier venues, he said, “It comes down to the venue specifics. Large-scale events with 10-12k of fans or even record-breaking attendance of over 81k at Wembley Stadium for AEW All In can be great… however, telecasting wrestling from wonderful theaters and amphitheaters, shows off a different side of AEW”.
Speaking about Daily’s Place, a venue closely linked with AEW, Khan mentioned, “Daily’s Place gives a unique viewing experience. We have successfully captured the spirit and passion of this stunning amphitheater in venues such as the Hammerstein Ballroom, Andrew J Brady Theater, and the Virgin Theater.”
Discussing the search to find locations embodying the vibe of Daily’s Place, Khan added, “We have discovered amazing venues… while Daily’s Place will always hold a special place in our hearts, we have found a similar energy across America in different arenas.” He concluded with his appreciation for the work of the wrestlers and staff towards assembling stunning shows.
