Earlier this week, Violent J, member of the Insane Clown Posse (ICP), expressed his displeasure towards CM Punk on social media. The ICP musician criticized Punk for previous seemingly disrespectful remarks towards his group, which he made during his time on TNA Wrestling, and for speaking negatively of Colt Cabana at 2022’s AEW All Out.
Discussing the situation on a recent episode of the “AdFreeShows” podcast, Violent J admitted that his online tirade was due to a real-life feud with Punk.
High points from Violent J’s podcast discussion include:
Regarding his relationship with Colt Cabana, Violent J stated: “Cabana is not just a colleague, but a really good friend. I don’t have many individuals I can genuinely call friends — those you practically speak to daily. That’s the kind of relationship I have with Colt.”
In reference to his internet rant against Punk, he explained: “I came across an old video of CM Punk criticizing Colt Cabana for sharing a bank account with his mother. I’ve always had issues with CM Punk as we have not been on good terms. When this old post came up, it was the perfect time to call him out. I also cannot forget that he refused to shake our hands back in TNA, which was insulting to us. So, when I saw his unwarranted remarks towards Colt, I decided to air my views. I also made it clear that our feud is not that deep, I simply disagree with his actions and attitudes.”
When queried on what he clarified to his son regarding his internet rant against Punk, he said: “Firstly, I wanted to make sure people are aware of my disdain for him. Secondly, I had become completely fed up with him. The way CM Punk criticized Colt Cabana for having a joint bank account with his mother just didn’t sit right with me.”
Regarding CM Punk as an individual, Violent J concluded: “I believe he often has issues with himself. He appears to be consistently unhappy and frustrated with everyone and everything, which makes it difficult to relate to him. I just couldn’t hold back anymore, so I had to speak out.”
