Vince Russo has publicly claimed that he’s ready to bid adieu to the wrestling industry for good, should former WWE NXT Women’s Queen, Lyra Valkyria, attain massive popularity on RAW.
During a recent broadcast of the “Wrestle Binge” podcast, Russo boldly professed his declaration about Valkyria in a lively debate about what reaching ‘over’ stature actually means. He was quoted as saying,
“ ‘[I’ve stated] ‘If Lyra Velcro ever achieves ‘over’ status, I will bid farewell to my wrestling career,’ and some fool was genuinely querying about when I’m planning to retire because Lyra Velcro has become a sensation.
“I believe the whole concept of ‘being over’ has been misunderstood in this industry, bro. Honestly, I sincerely doubt that people comprehend the authentic meaning of being over, bro.”
Russo should think twice before uttering such words because Valkyria (Lyra Valkyria) has been garnering significant popularity on the WWE’s main platform ever since she was promoted during the 2024 WWE Draft.
After her promotion, this Irish sensation swiftly moved up the ranks in the Queen of the Ring competition but was surprisingly defeated in the finale by SmackDown’s Nia Jax.
Most recently, Valkyria stepped into the ring during the previous week’s WWE RAW. Despite her best efforts in a match alongside Kayden Carter and Katana Chance, their team was beaten by Damage CTRL trio, Kairi Sane, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY.
