Vince Russo has publically criticized Stephanie McMahon, claiming she’s been untruthful about WWE’s booking schedule. This discussion took place during an episode of Russo’s podcast titled, “Brand”.
Previously, McMahon, the prior WWE CEO and Chairwoman, had stated that WWE organizes their storylines one year in advance. In response, Russo candidly expressed his disbelief and amusement. He stated,
“I’ll never forget a couple of years ago Stephanie McMahon actually made the statement that the WWE books things one year in advance. And, bro, I had to laugh out loud because if we are seeing booking that has been planned for the last year then everybody should be fired. So, let’s just call Stephanie McMahon a liar when it comes to that because either we call her a liar and say that is absolutely positively not true or they have booked a year of absolute s*.”
Further in the discussion, Russo criticized WWE for their handling of Cody Rhodes as Undisputed WWE Champion, saying it was another example of inadequate booking. The veteran wrestling writer argued that if McMahon’s assertion about one-year advance booking was correct, then the result has been a poor usage of time by the company’s booking team. He questioned,
“Stephanie, are you going to tell me that this s* year of booking for Cody Rhodes as the champion, this was all planned out a year ago?”
The podcast even featured a video titled “WHY the WWE had NO PLAN going into WRESTLEMANIA Season”, supporting Russo’s criticisms of the company’s booking strategies.
