The Netflix platform has recently unveiled the “Mr. McMahon” docuseries, recounting the life and career trajectory of Vince McMahon.
The six-episode series dives into a series of allegations of sexual misconduct against McMahon, as revealed by various women over the years. Renowned presenters Bill Simmons and David Shoemaker deliver their perspectives on the “Mr. McMahon” docuseries during a fresh episode of their show, “The Bill Simmons Podcast.”
It’s worth noting that before Janel Grant lodged lawsuits against McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE for sex trafficking, rape, and other charges, some of McMahon’s interviews had already been carried out.
Simmons recounted the backstory of the docuseries, elaborating on how McMahon came forward to narrate his life story. They agreed on making it all-inclusive and sought out a non-wrestling fan, Chris Smith, to direct it, as they believed it would make the series more captivating. Simmons also alluded to the uncertainties they faced during the documentary’s creation due to the controversies surrounding McMahon.
On the other hand, Shoemaker pointed out the difficulties they faced while working with McMahon due to his elusive nature and unpredictable schedule. He gave valuable insights into the WWE mogul’s unorthodox mannerisms, focusing on Vince’s elusive nature and the surreal atmosphere surrounding his presence.
In 2022, amidst hush-money accusation reports, Vince McMahon stepped down from his position as CEO and Chairman of WWE. However, his creative influence continued to remain intact in the company until he abandoned his role in September, post the WWE-UFC merger. Following this, McMahon received the appointment of Executive Chairman of TKO. However, earlier this year, he quit his post in TKO following Janel Grant’s lawsuit.
