The recent airing of AEW Dynamite unfortunately saw a decrease in viewer numbers compared to the prior week’s episode, which held the record for the highest viewership in around two months.
The live transmission on TBS this past Wednesday night attracted an average of 681,000 viewers, marking a 14% drop and losing over 100,000 viewers from the prior week’s audience, which had an average of 790,000 viewers.
Additionally, ratings within the key demographic of ages P18-49 also saw a downturn, with AEW Dynamite receiving an approximate rating of 0.23, a slight slip from the previous week’s episode rating of 0.25.
Despite this downturn, AEW Dynamite managed to clinch the second position in the chart for original cable programming aired on Wednesday.
When discussing average viewers, WWE NXT TV surpassed AEW Dynamite, pulling in 718,000 viewers versus Dynamite’s 681,000 viewers. However, AEW Dynamite did manage to edge out NXT in the key demographic, drawing in 297,000 viewers versus NXT’s 284,000 viewers (equating to a 0.22 rating). It’s worth noting though that WWE NXT faced no competition from either the NBA or NHL playoffs.
AEW Dynamite was up against formidable competition in the form of the NBA Finals on ABC, with the third game of the finals between the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks attracting an average of 10,973,000 viewers and claiming an impressive 3.20 rating within the key demographic.
