Tony Schiavone recently took to his “What Happened When” podcast to discuss his reaction to AEW airing the All In 2023 footage on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

The AEW commentator got many people talking after he was shown looking very unhappy after the footage aired on Dynamite. According to Schiavone, he was simply trying to be fully in the moment of the angle. He said,

“I didn’t give a sh*t about the footage, and still don’t. I’m sincere when I say that I don’t care. I don’t care. It has no impact on my life. Some people are saying, ‘Oh the footage you were showing was like the Finger Poke of Doom moment for AEW.’

That’s what you want it to be because you want to see us fail. There is no way, because I was in both companies, there is absolute no way that you can compare us to WCW. You can’t. You may want to. You may think you’re right. You’re wrong. You cannot compare us to WCW. I was there for both. You were not.

I think it’s hilarious, not hilarious; that people can take screenshots and assume anything from a screenshot. My facial reaction to what happened was my facial reaction trying to put more heat on the Bucks for being assh*les. Within the storyline itself. I did not have any reaction to the footage we saw because I don’t give a damn.

I was not upset at the promotion. I was not upset at Tony Khan. I was not pissed off about what we had shown. I was trying to be fully in the moment of the angle, which is the Bucks b*tching about FTR not wanting to shake their hands and getting f**ked around. That’s what I was doing. Of course, everyone wants to create their own story and that’s fine. That’s what social media is about. Social media is about idiots coming together and trying to come up with their own ideas.”

Tony Schiavone, the popular commentator for All Elite Wrestling (AEW), recently addressed his reaction to the airing of the All In 2023 footage on a recent episode of AEW Dynamite. Schiavone’s facial expression during the segment led to speculation and assumptions among fans, but he has now clarified his true feelings on the matter.

In his podcast, “What Happened When,” Schiavone expressed that he did not care about the footage and still doesn’t. He emphasized that it has no impact on his life and holds no significance for him. Some fans compared the footage to the infamous “Finger Poke of Doom” moment in WCW, but Schiavone firmly stated that AEW cannot be compared to WCW.

Having been a part of both companies, Schiavone asserted that those who were not present in both cannot accurately compare them. He addressed the critics who want to see AEW fail and insisted that their comparisons are misguided. Schiavone’s experience and perspective give him a unique insight into the wrestling industry, and he stands by his statement that AEW is incomparable to WCW.

Schiavone also commented on the screenshots circulating on social media, explaining that people should not assume anything based solely on a single image. He clarified that his facial reaction during the segment was intended to add more heat to the storyline involving The Young Bucks and FTR. His goal was to enhance the narrative within the angle, not to express any personal feelings about the footage itself.

The commentator made it clear that he was not upset with AEW or Tony Khan, the company’s president. He reiterated that his focus was solely on immersing himself in the moment of the angle and portraying the characters as effectively as possible. Schiavone acknowledged that social media allows people to create their own stories and ideas, but he dismissed these as the work of “idiots” coming together.

Schiavone’s clarification sheds light on the situation and provides a better understanding of his reaction to the All In 2023 footage. It serves as a reminder that assumptions based on a single moment or image can often be misleading. As AEW continues to grow and evolve, it is important to consider the perspectives of those involved in the industry to gain a more accurate understanding of the events taking place.
