Uncertainty Surrounds Cody Rhodes’ Retirement Plans in Pro Wrestling

During a recent appearance on “The MMA Hour” podcast, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes stated that he no longer has any clue about his retirement from professional wrestling.

Rhodes previously said he would retire at 40, but he is currently 38 and has changed his mind.

The American Nightmare said, “I used to say 40. But then I’m just at my absolute best now. I don’t know, I don’t have a number anymore. I don’t want my daughter to be 10 years old and me being on the road full-time as I am now. When we get to that, I mean every age is important, but when you get to those memory-making years I wanna have provided enough for the family just to call it. That doesn’t mean call it in the sense that I wouldn’t be wrestling but maybe I’d be wrestling on a different schedule.”

Cody Rhodes, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, recently made an appearance on “The MMA Hour” podcast where he discussed his retirement plans from professional wrestling. Rhodes, who had previously stated that he would retire at the age of 40, revealed that he no longer has a set number in mind for his retirement.

At the age of 38, Rhodes explained that he is currently at the peak of his career and feels that he is performing at his absolute best. This newfound realization has caused him to reconsider his retirement plans. He stated, “I used to say 40. But then I’m just at my absolute best now. I don’t know, I don’t have a number anymore.”

Rhodes went on to explain that his decision is also influenced by his desire to spend more time with his family, particularly his daughter. He expressed concern about being on the road full-time when his daughter reaches the age of 10, emphasizing the importance of being present during her formative years. Rhodes wants to ensure that he has provided enough for his family before considering retirement.

However, Rhodes clarified that retirement does not necessarily mean completely stepping away from wrestling. Instead, he envisions a different schedule that allows him to balance his professional commitments with his family life. This could involve wrestling on a part-time basis or taking on a different role within the industry.

The interview with Cody Rhodes provides a glimpse into the mindset of a professional wrestler who is contemplating his future in the sport. It highlights the challenges faced by wrestlers in maintaining a work-life balance and the importance of prioritizing family while pursuing a successful career.
