Ultimate WWE and AEW Power Rankings #1 – June 4, 2023
Each week, WWE and AEW superstars continue to shine and show why they’re amongst the best in their respective companies. In light of that, it is time to highlight those wrestlers with the first edition of a Power Ranking Top 10 list for both WWE and AEW talents.
This set of power rankings ranges from last Sunday (May 27) to this Sunday (June 4). This means that all the results and highlights from AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground will count as well as the usual TV results from this week’s Monday Night Raw, NXT TV, AEW Dynamite, and SmackDown.
After each Top 10 ranking, I will then combo both rankings into the ultimate Top 20 Power Rankings from both WWE and AEW combined. Which Superstars ruled the week? It’s time to find out!
WWE TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. Gunther
The WWE Intercontinental Champion continued his year-long reign with the title by defeating Mustafa Ali at Night of Champions. The Ring General is continuing to approach even more history, as breaking the record for longest-reigning Intercontinental champion is in arms reach.
9. LA Knight
Knight scored a victory over Montez Ford on Friday Night SmackDown to qualify for the Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Knight has emerged as a frontrunner to grab the coveted briefcase as he continues to be the most over guy in the company week after week.
8. Trish Stratus and Zoey Stark
The newly aligned partnership of Stratus and Stark began at Night of Champions, as Stark helped the WWE Hall of Famer pick up the victory over Becky Lynch. On Monday Night Raw, the two laid out Lynch once more, with Stark beginning to show signs that she very well may be the future of the women’s division.
7. The Judgement Day
The SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley squashed Natalya in 69 seconds at Night of Champions. The Judgement Day as a whole continues to be a highlight on Raw, with Dominik Mysterio continuing to receive massive heel heat and Damian Priest setting himself up to be the first challenge to the World Heavyweight Championship.
6. Carmelo Hayes
The NXT Champion successfully defended his title twice this past week, defeating Bron Breakker at NXT Battleground and then besting Noam Dar on NXT TV. The champ continues to impress both in the ring and on the mic.
5. Roman Reigns
The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion has officially passed 1000 days as champion. However, it was a mixed bag for Reigns on TV. Reigns failed to capture the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship at Night of Champions due to The Bloodline imploding via Jimmy Uso. On SmackDown though, the tribal chief received his new title belt and seemingly fractured the Bloodline even further with Solo Sikoa attacking Jimmy Uso for his actions.
4. Asuka
The new looked Asuka broke Bianca Belair’s record-setting RAW Women’s Championship reign at Night of Champions in a surprise but welcomed victory. Asuka creatively won the match by spraying the blue mist on her fingers, giving her the chance to blind Belair whilst in the KOD.
3. Tiffany Stratton
Stratton defeated Lyra Valkryia at NXT Battleground to win the vacant NXT Women’s Championship. The up-and-coming superstar has emerged as a bright spot-on NXT TV and her title victory was nothing but deserved.
2. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
The Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions successfully defended their titles against Reigns and Sikoa at Night of Champions, seemingly ending the long rivalry between the two and The Bloodline. On Raw, the duo had a fun comedic segment involving Imperium.
1. Seth Rollins
Rollins deservingly tops the ranking for WWE. The Visionary won the newly created World Heavyweight Championship over AJ Styles at Night of Champions. Rollins will be an exclusive world champion for Monday Night Raw for the first time in a long while.
AEW TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. Jade Cargill
The long-reigning and inaugural TBS Champion saw her reign not only end at Double or Nothing, but also saw her 60-0 undefeated streak be broken as well. Despite the loss, Cargill did in fact win a match against Taya Valkyrie before dropping the belt at the event.
9. House of Black
The AEW Trios Champions defeated The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn at Double or Nothing. The trio’s new custom match, “Open House Rules,” has been a fun addition to add to the overall character and presentation in all the right ways.
8. Toni Storm
Storm is now a 2x AEW Women’s Champion. Storm bested the injured Jamie Hayter at Double or Nothing to win the title and continue in showing The Outcasts dominance on the women’s division.
7. Adam Cole
Cole picked up two huge victories this week, first defeating Chris Jericho at Double or Nothing, and then teaming up with Britt Baker to beat Jericho and Saraya on Dynamite.
6. Swerve Strickland
Strickland not only was the final person eliminated from the Blackjack Battle Royal but will now be getting a one-on-one match against Orange Cassidy for the AEW International Championship after winning a three-way #1 contender’s match on Dynamite.
5. Blackpool Combat Club
The BCC, most notably Wheeler Yuta, had a banger of a week. First, the faction picked up the win in the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing, whilst on Dynamite, the BCC defeated Bandido and The Lucha Bros with Yuta once again scoring the pinfall victory, after pinning Kenny Omega at Double or Nothing.
4. Orange Cassidy
The AEW International Champion continued his great reign with the title by holding off 20 men in the Blackjack Battle Royal. Cassidy will now turn his attention to defending his championship once more against Strickland on next week’s Dynamite.
3. Kris Statlander
Statlander returned to AEW with a mission…to be champion. Statlander not only broke Cargill’s undefeated streak but became the second woman to win the TBS Championship, making her first night back one to never forget.
2. MJF
The AEW World Champion is still the face of AEW, defeating Darby Allin, “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry, and Sammy Guevara in an incredible four-way match at Double or Nothing. MJF continues to back up his exceptional mic work with his in-ring ability, shutting any doubters up once again.
1. Konosuke Takeshita
And in what may be a surprise, the #1 person atop the AEW Power Rankings belongs to Takeshita. Takeshita costed The Elite their match at Double or Nothing and aligned with the evil and hated Don Callis. With Callis as his manager, Takeshita is primed to get his long-awaited big push as a massive young heel in the company, as 2023 continues to be a great year for the Japanese sensation.
