It’s been revealed that the OC pitched a match idea with the Rock N’ Roll Express for WWE Starrcade 2017. This match, although advertised on WWE.com, never materialised.
On a recent episode of “Talk N’ Shop” podcast, Luke Gallows explained the reason behind the aborting of the match. According to Gallows, the WWE doctors had concerns about the Rock N’ Roll Express’s physical ability to participate in the match. He stated,
“It’s not really a secret. We had put forward the proposal. We talked about it, even asserted it. When Ricky Morton learned about the possibility, he was thrilled and discussed it freely online. However, WWE’s primary concern was their health and passing the medical exam. They were unsure about their ability to endure a one-night event with us. But, we still managed to have an enjoyable match at Starrcade and put forth the idea to Michael (Hayes) on more than one occasion.”
Furthermore, NBA player Tyrese Haliburton shared his experience of being booed at a WWE NXT event in Orlando, FL. Surprisingly, wrestling legend Shawn Michaels did not anticipate this reaction.
In a recent episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Haliburton gave insights about his endeavor to be the protagonist. He stated,
“I was supposed to be a hero there. I told Shawn Michaels beforehand that I anticipated a negative reception and he assured me that their fans were incredible and would welcome me. However, as soon as I stepped into venue, the booing started even before the cameras started rolling. I heard taunts about the Knicks. I didn’t want to look weak, so I stood my ground despite not having any negative comments about Orlando. Eventually, I decided to comment on Magic’s history as a team. I won’t retract my comments and I’ve decided to embrace my new villain persona in the wrestling world.”
