Netflix is once more stepping into the wrestling entertainment scene with a newly confirmed show titled ‘Tuesday Night Titans’. This original series is set to be a hot addition to the streaming giant’s catalogue.
A report unveiled by Deadline delves into the initial stages of the show’s production, stating that the focus will be on the off-stage lives of the primary characters.
The narrative reveals, “Embracing the spectacle-laden universe of professional wrestling, Tuesday Night Titans revolves around an audacious writer who jeopardizes her successful career to bring her alienated best friend from childhood – a ‘jobber’ wrestler on the independent circuit – into the same mammoth company they admired as kids.”
It further adds, “The intertwined destinies of the duo play out as they tackle personal anxieties, cutthroat colleagues, and tangled past in a realm where ‘kayfabe’ – the scripted reality of wrestling – permeates beyond the ring, influencing every part of their existence.”
The mastermind behind the show is Michael Notarile, a seasoned writer for WWE’s popular Monday Night RAW. Outside the wrestling context, he can also be credited with successful shows such as Fox’s ‘The Cleaning Lady’ and the network’s medical drama, ‘The Resident’.
Currently, Netflix hosts WWE’s Monday Night RAW and the documentary ‘Wrestlers’, an intimate look into the lives of OVW stars. This new show is anticipated to add another facet to Netflix’s already diverse wrestling content.
