WWE Hall of Famers Lita and Trish Stratus reflected on their iconic main event match on WWE RAW during a recent interview on the “Ring The Belle” podcast.

Trish Stratus revealed that they were not informed upfront that their match would be the main event. She stated: “As females there was no like ‘Hey, one day we’re gonna lead towards this,’ absolutely not… I think it was in the moment; I think the feud was — everything sort of was in the right place, at the right time.”

Lita shared her thoughts about that time, adding, “I hadn’t let myself get excited because I didn’t think it would happen. Something was going to change, I thought.” Stratus agreed, mentioning how their plans often got rearranged. “We thought it was a prank,” she said.

It was also revealed during the interview that the backstage kiss to start the main event match wasn’t their idea. Stratus said she didn’t believe they needed a kiss to kick off the main event match.

In other wrestling news, Layla talked about her WWE Divas Title win during the WWE Extreme Rules 2012 on the “No Name Wrestling” podcast. Although she was honoured to be the champion, she wished the situation could have been different.

Layla discussed her title win saying, “If I’m going to come back as a face, I don’t want to win the title like that, I would rather have a story and chase it… It felt amazing, and to be honoured anyway to get that.”

She also shared her thoughts on being part of the WWE Divas era and felt that if given the opportunity, “Divas” could have proven more. “Part of me is like yeah, I wish we would’ve had that, and that’s just the acceptance that, that wasn’t our era.”

The former WWE star also acknowledged that fans may not remember her as much, but she is open to what could potentially happen in the future now that she is back in the public eye through social media.
