In a recent guest spot on “The Roommates Show,” professional wrestler Triple H offered inside perspective on the intensive persuasion efforts it took to convince The Undertaker to commit to a segment in WrestleMania 40.
During the second night of WrestleMania 40’s main event, audiences saw The Undertaker pulling off a choke-slam on The Rock. This event transpired within the heart-stopping match that saw Cody Rhodes triumph over Roman Reigns, thereby claiming the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Triple H revealed, “It took us forever to get him to do that thing. A lot of that stuff comes together at the 11th hour. When I initially reached out to him about it, he was hesitant, saying, ‘I don’t know. I don’t think I want to do it.’ I then pressed on, telling him, ‘80,000 spectators are going to lose their minds.’ It took quite a while. Rock had to make a phone call, as did others in order to convince him. When he hung up his boots, he was pretty much done. He didn’t parade with the hat and coat. They are retired. ‘I’ll appear as myself, but I’m not reprising as The Undertaker.’ He wanted to draw a line under it.”
