Following the pivotal WWE Clash at the Castle event, Triple H responded to comments about World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest being classified as a ‘transitional champion’ by critics during a press conference post-show.
During the wrestling event, Priest successfully retained his title against Drew McIntyre, an unexpected outcome aided by the external interference of CM Punk.
Triple H stated, “Damian Priest, I listened to what he had to say here at the press conference – he’s got every reason to be upset. He’s worked tirelessly, week after week, to secure his current position, and now people are questioning his accomplishments. But having known Damian for quite some time, I understand that there’s nothing he relishes more than proving doubters wrong.”
The WWE executive continued, “So when people start doubting him, I believe he will react as he did here tonight: he’s going to come forward and silence his critics. He is here to show you, in the long run, the man who emerged victorious, that perhaps wasn’t thought by everyone to be the right choice or was simply seen as a temporary champion or someone who couldn’t keep up at the top level, is going to prove all of you wrong.”
