Trevor Lee Talks WWE Release, Zilla Fatu Aims To Step Out Of Umaga’s Shadow

Recently, during a guest spot on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, wrestler Zilla Fatu shared his foremost struggle — forging a distinct entity apart from just being labelled as the offspring of renowned WWE Hall of Famer Umaga.

Fatu shared, “One of my current obstacles is to distinguish Zilla Fatu from ‘Umaga’s son’. My goal for the upcoming year is to alter the perception of Samoan wrestlers. The notion that we are merely wild is incorrect. I crave to delve into the technical aspect of wrestling and exhibit that Samoans extend beyond the stereotype of headbanging and headbutting. Jacob (Fatu) is making stellar progress in this regard.”

If further added, “I am excited to be in this space. I have faith in the journey. Adhering to patience as I comprehend that everyone has their moment. Right now may not be mine.”

On a recent stint on the “SHAK Wrestling” podcast, Trevor Lee, known as Cameron Grimes in WWE, gave his thoughts on his exit from WWE and potential reentry.

Below are some key takeaways from the podcast:

About his departure from WWE: “My ultimate fantasy was to make it to the WWE. I didn’t envision a post-WWE scenario. The day the news broke out that everything I had worked for was no longer in my clutch, I was left without a destination. The lack of a Plan B was terrifying.”

Contacting his potential WWE reentry down the road: “Life has tons of possibilities. I may find my way back to WWE. It’d be dishonest to deny that they are the pinnacle of wrestling, right? As of now, the faith MLW has placed in me by presenting me with this title match [against Mistico] holds immense value to me. Their trust makes me feel honoured. My wish is to make them pleased.”
