This past April marked the end of Trevor Lee, known as Cameron Grimes in WWE, five-year tenure with the company. Lee parted ways with WWE, becoming available as a free agent a few days ago.
During a recent virtual signing event organized by K&S WrestleFest, the wrestling star opened up about the circumstances surrounding his WWE exit.
Lee gave a detailed account stating that his separation from WWE was chiefly a result of unfortunate timing. Even though the exit may have appeared abrupt, the 30-year-old was quick to confirm his career in professional wrestling was still very much alive.
He remained positive about making a comeback to wrestling television at some stage in the future. Lee affirmed, “It happens, right? Timing [his WWE release] was largely responsible. Even though it was bad timing, the great thing about this industry is that it keeps going. There’s no break. Every week of the year, wrestling shows will be produced… From two shows every week, now it’s increased to five. So, in all likelihood, with 250 live television shows being broadcast in the next year, you’re bound to see me on the screen once again. Though it’s a sad occurrence, it will contribute to building the narrative and it’s all part of the bigger picture, when I do make my way back, it will hold even more significance.”
He went on to express a keen interest in all wrestling companies but confirmed a specific interest in AEW. He said, “Why wouldn’t I have an interest in AEW? It’s effectively serving its purpose and remarkably shifting the culture, creating a sensation that represents the new generation of wrestling so naturally, yes.”
Black Label Pro will see the debut of Lee tomorrow. In addition, he has been registered to appear at Elevation Pro Wrestling’s Homecoming event scheduled for July 27 in Lexington, North Carolina.
The erstwhile WWE superstar has also been enlisted for wXw’s upcoming event named ‘Shortcut to the Top’. This event will be hosted on August 10 in Germany.
