Professional wrestler Chris Jericho has revealed plans for a tournament which will identify the inaugural Women’s Oceanic Champion. The tournament is slated to occur during Jericho’s forthcoming cruise event.
On the tournament roster is Tasha Steelz, who will face-off against Viva Van during the opening round. Meanwhile, Amira Blair has been set to take on Natalie Markova. Victors of these matches will progress to the championship finals. The highly anticipated Jericho cruise is penciled in between January 31 and February 4.
In other news, Jericho also took to Instagram to pay tribute to the recently deceased Joe Koff. As a former COO for ROH, Koff had a dynamic influence in the wrestling industry.
Paying homage, Jericho recalled Koff’s pivotal role in breathing life into the debut edition of the Jericho Cruise in 2018. He expressed that, ironically, it was when WWE decided against supporting his cruise concept that Joe stepped in.
Jericho’s heartfelt Instagram post read, “Sad to hear about the passing of former @ringofhonor COO #JoeKoff. Little known story- Joe was instrumental in getting the first @jericho_cruise out to sea in the fall of 2018! After literally months of keeping me waiting for an answer from @wwe, they finally declined. This left me in a bit of a bind. However, merely an HOUR after #WWE’s rejection, I had Joe on the line agreeing to involve #ROH and their fantastic pool of talent. The rest, as they say, is history! Although we lost touch, I am eternally grateful to Joe for his support and vision that continue to sail with the #JerichoCruise. Thank you for your love and dedication to the wrestling business, Joe!!! 🙏❤️”
