During the ‘Highest in the Room 3’ event of GCW on a recent Saturday night, pro wrestler Chris Jericho made a surprising guest appearance, hinting at his forthcoming match at the ROH Final Battle 2024.
In an encounter between Matt Cardona and EFFY, an unknown individual in a hood entered the ring and assaulted Cardona with a baseball stick, offering EFFY the chance to gain a pinfall. The true identity of this masked character? None other than Chris Jericho himself, who after attacking Cardona, went after EFFY.
Jericho’s motive seems to be linked to his scheduled face-off with Cardona for the Ring of Honor World Title at the Final Battle event on the 20th of December.
EFFY was actually standing in for Ricky Starks, originally slated to be Cardona’s opponent. Following some controversial remarks made by EFFY directed at Tony Khan’s father, AEW decided to pull Starks from the event.
A social media post captured the surprise of Jericho’s appearance:
“CHRIS JERICHO JUST SHOWED UP TO GCW AND TOOK OUT EFFY AND MATT CARDONA!!! #AEW 😭😭😭😭” — Wes (@WesCEO2504) December 15, 2024
On another note, here are the latest standings for the AEW 2024 Continental Classic tournament following the current episode of AEW Collision:
