Recently, AEW wrestler Kyle Fletcher made an appearance on the “CHGO Blackhawks” podcast and expressed his admiration for his fellow professional wrestlers. He named three individuals who have inspired him in his career – Kenny Omega, Jeff Hardy, and Jushin Liger.
He spoke effusively about Kenny Omega, stating, “Kenny Omega. He is someone that, he might be, in my books, the greatest in-ring performer of all-time. I still, to this day, will go back and watch his Tokyo Dome main event with Tanahashi. I’ll go back and watch his matches with (Kazuchika) Okada, his matches with (Tomohiro) Ishii. I’m in awe, and every single time, I’m like, ‘Ah man.’ I’m gobsmacked. Kenny, to this day, is the one I can go back and watch and always enjoy.”
In a different context, on a recent episode of his “What Happened When” podcast, AEW announcer Tony Schiavone gave high praises to wrestler Shelton Benjamin. Schiavone had this to say, “I have a lot of time for Shelton Benjamin. Not only as a wrestler, but as a human being. God, he’s legit. The word was always that, when it comes right down to it, Shelton Benjamin’s probably the toughest guy in wrestling. I’ve heard that for years. And after seeing him in the ring, I can see why they say that.”
