AEW President Tony Khan recently appeared on the “CHGO Sports” podcast where he talked about the AEW’s homegrown talents who have garnered compelling support from the audience.
Khan remarked, “I find it truly remarkable and exciting that some of our biggest successes and most popular stars in AEW are those whom the crowds have rallied behind, and who are homegrown talents. Hangman Page made a name for himself internationally but wasn’t consistently featured on American media. Seeing him evolve into an incredible champion and star, with fans hugely supporting him, and even propelling him to the title, is amazing. Orange Cassidy is indeed one of our digital superstars. For instance, if you consider the top ten YouTube videos, seven feature Cassidy.”
In a recent episode on Maven’s YouTube channel, Raj Dhesi, better known as Jinder Mahal, revealed the cancelled plans for a match-up with Roman Reigns in a Punjabi Prison face-off.
Of the three Punjabi Prison matches ever held, the most recent one saw Mahal squaring off against Randy Orton.
Dhesi revealed, “The very first time, the match was intended to be between the Great Khali and the Undertaker. However, Great Khali couldn’t participate, and the Big Show filled in. It was between Dave Bautista and Great Khali the second time, while the third match pitted myself against Randy Orton. Interestingly, there were nearly four of these, with plans of a match between myself and Roman Reigns in Chicago.”
