The All Elite Wrestling (AEW) All Out 2024 will now take place on September 7 at Chicago’s NOW Arena, shifting from the previously scheduled date of September 1, just a week past AEW All In 2024.
During a discussion with “Sportsgrid,” Tony Khan, the President of AEW, was queried concerning the decision to shift AEW All Out 2024’s date.
Khan pointed towards the remarkable achievements of last year’s events as a contributing factor. AEW set a record for wrestling ticket sales at Wembley Stadium, boasting a whopping 81,035 entries. The subsequent week saw AEW holding All Out 2024 in the United Center, which completely sold out.
Conceding to the difficulty of organizing events within close temporal proximity, Khan emphasized the tactical merits of building connections and intertwining fights and tales across the different shows. Consequently, he chose to postpone the show by a week to better fit it between AEW All In 2024 and the AEW Grand Slam at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
In Khan’s own words, “I mulled over this and thought it would be worth a shot. The previous year, All Out took place immediately after All In. We established the benchmark for wrestling ticket sales at Wembley Stadium; we managed to gather an impressive 81,035 audience in London. Followed by the next week, we had an incredibly packed, enthusiastic crowd at the United Center, staged an enormous show, and the evening was just superb. Many felt that All Out was one of the most successful pay-per-views in AEW’s history.”
Furthermore, Khan stated, “It’s undoubtedly challenging for any event to succeed All In so promptly. This can also pave way to create some activities between the shows, despite the apparent synergy between the shows and the feasibility to connect fights and stories across the shows. I strongly believe that this could be achieved, and the scope enlarged by delaying this show by a week. Moreover, considering the timing for Arthur Ashe Stadium’s Grand Slam AEW this year, it seems All Out falls into a very favourable spot, few weeks post All In, and pre Grand Slam. Last year, many regarded All Out as our top show, thus, I am highly pumped to surpass last year’s All In and All Out performances this year.”
