Tony Khan Says AEW Will Be Coming To Mexico, Ricky Starks Set For Indie Event, More

Upcoming, this Saturday at AEW Full Gear 2024 pay-per-view event, Adam Cole and Roderick Strong will be facing each other in a match which is considered more of a consolation prize.

Cole couldn’t satisfy the conditions set by MJF which necessitated him to secure three victories to compete against him. Hence, his matchup with Strong.

In the recent episode of the “Danny Ocean Show,” Cole expressed his disappointment over failing to get the match against MJF. He said,

“I must admit, I’m somewhat disappointed that I won’t be the one teaching MJF a lesson, wrestle with Roddy. But if not me, then it’s great that my best friend Roderick Strong will be doing the job. So, I’m a bit saddened and will definitely be there. I would not miss the chance to witness Roddy defeat MJF from the front row. But the unfortunate reality is, I’m not on the card.”

Furthermore, Ricky Starks will be making his first appearance for House of Glory at an event scheduled on the 17th of January in Chicago, Illinois.

The official announcement is available for scrutiny below:

Further, Tony Khan, the President of AEW, has hinted towards AEW hosting an event in Mexico in the future.

On the promotional run of Saturday’s Full Gear pay-per-view event, Khan spoke to Q101 about AEW’s working relationship with CMLL, and the prospects of organizing an event in Mexico in the future.

Following are some of the key points from the interview:

Concerning AEW’s relationship with CMLL: “I enjoy our collaboration with CMLL. Salvador [Lutteroth Lomeli] and his clan have been wonderful to us, they are professionals to the core and delightful individuals. I feel privileged to have formed such a bond with Salvador and CMLL. This relationship has paved the way for numerous popular stars from Mexico to join AEW and they have been successful too. It is encouraging to see our main participants going head-to-head with fight specialists from CMLL. As a fan, I am thrilled to have Mistico and CMLL join us in AEW. Mistico is a splendid star and a major crowd-puller, I’m particularly elated to welcome Mistico to Chicago next week.”

Regarding the likelihood of AEW coming to Mexico: “I’m excited at the prospect and I can’t wait to eventually bring AEW to Mexico for the first time. There are no foregone plans but it is imperative that it happens eventually. I’d love to organize an AEW event with CMLL at Arena Mexico. I believe Salvador would be open to the idea of us organizing there. If he agrees, it would be a huge honor to bring AEW to Arena Mexico for the first time.”
