Tony Khan, Rey Fenix Comment On The Lucha Bros Possibly Facing Other Tag Champions

The Lucha Bros dethroned the Young Bucks and won the AEW World Tag Team Championship at AEW All Out.

Though the company has gained quite a reputation for breaking down The Forbidden Door, based on recent comments from company president Tony Khan, it seems like the Lucha Bros will be facing some of AEW’s own teams rather than duos from other companies.

During a post-show media scrum, when the Lucha Bros were asked about the prospect of facing the NWA World Tag Team Champions, Khan joked that the question should have been directed to him since he books the matches. Despite the ongoing collaboration between the two companies, it looks unlikely as Khan answered by saying there’s plenty of good teams in AEW that can challenge the Lucha Bros instead.

“That would be up to me. You’re asking the wrong guy. I am ‘The Forbidden Door,’ but I think there’s a lot of really good tag teams,” Khan noted, before briefly pausing and clarifying that La Rebelión (Bestia 666 and MechaWolf) now holds the titles. “Yeah, I think we got a lot of really good tag teams here in AEW, so that’s good.”

Regardless of Khan’s comments, Rey Fenix emphasized his readiness to prove that the Lucha Brothers are the best tag team in the world by facing anybody.

“We want to face all the tag teams in the world,” said Fenix. “We are ready, we prepare ourselves every day to be better. Every match we did, every night, we try to be better than the last one.

“…We put 100% all night and the next one because this is the thing that makes me feel human. I have a lot of feelings when I’m in the ring and every night, every day, we prepare ourselves for the best because we want to be the best. We are the best, so we are ready for any tag team in the world.”
