Tony Khan, the President and CEO of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has given his take on the fallout from the AEW Dynasty’s finale, where the return of The Young Bucks meddled with the outcome of the battle between Swerve Strickland and Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title.
Speaking in a Q&A session after the AEW Dynasty 2025, Khan expressed understanding towards the adverse feedback on social media. However, he defended the plot twist, stating that The Young Bucks’ intervention was aligned with the storyline and added depth to the evolving narratives surrounding Moxley, Bucks, and Strickland. He further pointed out that passionate reactions ‒ both commendations and criticisms ‒ are indicative of fan involvement, which he regards as beneficial for AEW.
When asked if he pays heed to the negative criticism, he responded, “Definitely, I keep that in mind. We had several memorable moments for the fans tonight. And Swerve was — no insult intended, Renee, the fan-favorite tonight. The audience was truly rooting for Swerve in the ring. Seeing two of the best World Champions clashing was spectacular. Yet, the Young Bucks’ return ruined what could have been a fantastic World Championship match. Despite it not aligning with the wishes of many attendees, it was another one of those remarkable moments of the evening.”
On the storyline’s intriguing aspects, Khan said, “It indeed sets up an interesting scenario. I get that the fans are rooting for Swerve. I think they continue to support Swerve as much today after the Pay-Per-View as ever. The fans adore Swerve and the trickeries of the Young Bucks doesn’t change that. It indeed creates a very intriguing situation for tonight. Swerve is one of our leading stars. Jon Moxley has done great for the company… On that note, I do see a certain level of engagement in what’s unfolding, and it’s clear that there was a lot of support for Swerve tonight. However, the reentry of the Young Bucks, two of our biggest stars ever, changing the game, definitely adds an interesting twist. And that’s something certainly worth looking out for in the upcoming Wednesday matches.”
On the injury of Orange Cassidy, Khan revealed, “The past fortnight, the company indeed got hit hard by a string of unfortunate injuries. Yet, our roster and locker room showed strong solidarity. Losing wrestlers like Orange Cassidy and then Jay White week after week, who are some of the top stars in the company was hard. We’d have loved to have both of them tonight, but everybody stepped up.”
