During a recent media briefing for AEW All Out 2024, Tony Khan, the President of AEW, shared his views about the controversial actions of Hangman Page. He torched the childhood home of Swerve Strickland on AEW Dynamite, an act which has stirred up quite a reaction.
Khan expressed, “The feedback from fans and viewers…it’s been enormously positive. The fans seemed to believe that the conclusion of the event was superb. If we were operating in any other industry, such an action would probably have caused a great shock. But within the world of wrestling, most felt that this move was somewhat predictable, yet they were still caught off guard by it. I believe it was a very logical move, one that represents the spirit of professional wrestling and creates memorable moments. This incident has significantly contributed to the increased anticipation for a pay-per-view event that’s been shaping up wonderfully since our return from Wembley Stadium.”
The aftermath of this incident in the Unsanctioned Lights Out Steel Cage Match saw Page emerge victorious over Strickland, at the AEW All Out 2024 showdown that recently took place.
