In the recent episode of his podcast, “Hall of Fame”, WWE legend Booker T shed some light on AEW’s apparent lack of far-sighted planning in their creative bookings. He suggested that AEW’s President, Tony Khan, should consider seeking assistance in crafting narratives and more.
Here are some excerpts from the podcast:
When discussing the need for assistance to Tony Khan in managing AEW and how the absence of long-term strategies are evident, he expressed: “Who, in AEW, has really benefited from a well-executed long-term plan? It seems to me that Tony Khan is allowing the talent quite a bit of latitude in their actions. He puts faith in them to behave appropriately. But if you transfer that approach to Reality of Wrestling, would I be able to trust the performers to have free rein and still produce the show we envision? Is it reasonable to expect them to refrain from incessant ramblings or wanton violence? I doubt it.
“I feel that Tony Khan needs to take control. He should reconsider the format of his shows and seek assistance. We all need help; no one can do everything on their own. This, to my mind, is what Tony Khan should prioritize right now.”
Touching upon Nic Nemeth’s journey in TNA, he said: “Nic Nemeth, or Dolph Ziggler as some might still call him, has had a commendable run. His achievement as the TNA World Champion has propelled TNA into the limelight. Now he’s a sought-after talent in both WWE and TNA. I believe Dolph Ziggler’s success story is a big deal. The impression I get is that he’s content where he is. He had the potential to be in AEW too. Don’t you think he could have secured a contract there? However, I feel he wouldn’t have been as celebrated as he is now in TNA if he had gone to AEW. The exposure, the regular coverage he’s received are remarkable. Ever since his arrival, TNA has made headlines over Nic Nemeth.
