Tony Khan Interested In Booking A Timecop Match, QT Marshall On Wrestling Costco Guy AJ

AEW President, Tony Khan, recently guested on the “Battleground” podcast. During the chat, he was asked if he would consider hosting a Timecop-related match in AEW, given his passion for the Jean-Claude Van Damme film.

Responding to the query, Khan stated, “I would love to execute that idea. That’s definitely planned for our future. We’ve indeed revived the popularity of this iconic film. Timecop is more than a cult classic. It’s the most commercially successful production of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s career. It’s also the only one in his portfolio to ever hit the 0 million mark, and justifiably so since it’s a fantastic film. The concept also applies to the wrestling world where some shows are live, some are taped, and it sometimes feels like you’re in two places at once.”

In another recent podcast appearance – “My Mom’s Basement”, QT Marshall talked about his showdown with Big Boom! AJ at the AEW Full Gear 2024, labeling it amongst the finest pre-show bouts ever.

The two engaged in the Zero Hour pre-show, where AJ emerged as the winner, even while contending with a broken foot.

Some highlights from the podcast include:

Marshall’s opinion on the match outcome: “Even though I didn’t win, I believe that everything happened for the best. He got injured which is unfortunate; I don’t know when that happened as we didn’t meet before the match. But him completing the duel despite his injury shows his tremendous professionalism. Judging from his promos and how he presents himself, he is a thorough professional wrestler. While the audience might have considered this match as a gimmick to start with, from what I hear, our performance became one of the show stealers. It was a good call on Tony’s part to let the match happen; and AJ, who claims to have talked to Tony, will be back. I hope he doesn’t cross my path again.”

The build-up to the bout: “The storytelling was really done well. Tony was very pleased with it, and the live audience’s response was beyond expectations. I personally experienced a reaction on social media like never before, which I honestly don’t like much. It’s our job to give our best in all situations.”

His pride in the performance: “When I left last year, my departure was linked to varied factors, some even related to wrestling. I felt I could be portrayed differently, an aspect that truly reflected in this match. The big entrances, the elaborate showmanship – traditional wrestling elements – all contributed in showcasing my different side. The audience appreciated that the match was straightforward and immersive. I couldn’t be prouder of what we accomplished. For AJ and his family, the whole experience was unforgettable.”
