In a recent dialogue with “Quinn and Cantara – The Blood and The Treasure,” Tony Khan, the President of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), was questioned about his viewing of the latest Netflix-produced documentary series centered around former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
The AEW chief revealed that he had been unable to find the time to watch “Mr. McMahon” as the majority of his attention has been consumed by the Jacksonville Jaguars’ football season and overseeing AEW activities.
Highlights from the podcast conversation can be perused below:
When asked about his engagement with Netflix’s documentary series “Mr. McMahon”, Tony Khan responded, “I regret not having watched that documentary simply because my commitments with football and wrestling have left me no time. I haven’t been able to catch that. My primary dedication currently is towards what we’re trying to accomplish in AEW. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoy watching wrestling from around the world.”
Regarding Vince McMahon’s significant contribution to the wrestling industry, Khan expressed, “Vince’s presence in the wrestling industry can’t be overlooked, credit must be given where it is due. I’ve not had the privilege to meet him nor have I ever collaborated with him. However, as a pro wrestling enthusiast and with the knowledge I’ve accumulated over the years about this industry, I can say that we enjoy our position as a challenger promotion, aiming to steadily grow and establish AEW from scratch. It’s been five years and the progress we’ve made in that period is commendable.”
When probed about possibly bringing back War of the Worlds or Global Wars shows, Khan enthusiastically responded: “Yes, I’d fancy doing that. That’s undoubtedly an area we’re eager to explore. The War Of The Worlds concept is appealing. We’ve created something unique with Forbidden Door making its North American and European presence known and AEW taking over Japan to take part in Wrestle Dynasty.”
On the topic of AEW’s partnership with NJPW, Khan stated, “Our collaboration with New Japan has been excellent, I would absolutely love to develop it further. It is incredible how much AEW has achieved in the last few years in terms of working with international wrestling promotions like New Japan and lucha libre in Mexico. Our efforts in expanding our presence overseas and collaborating with top-tier international wrestling promotions have resulted in some truly astounding matches.”
