Ex-WWE wrestler Donovan Dijak, well known for his impressive tenure in NXT, failed to meet high expectations during his move to the main roster in the 2024 WWE Draft. After parting ways with WWE, the now 37-year old athlete is officially a free agent.
Upon attaining his free agency status, Dijak has ensured he stays active. His debut was made at the Blitzkrieg Pro event, and he was spotted backstage at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024.
In a fresh interview with Forbes, Dijak opened up about his interest in seeking opportunities with AEW following his WWE release. Dijak shared that AEW President Tony Khan is cognizant of his plans.

Speaking about his attendance at Forbidden Door, Dijak said, “I was. I got to see Mark (Briscoe) for the first time in—God—I guess seven years [at Forbidden Door]. So that was super exciting”. Reflecting fondly on his reunion with Briscoe and his family.
Regarding his appearance at the show and his interest in AEW, Dijak stated, “Nobody. I showed up uninvited (laughs). No, Mojo [Rawley] and Steve [Kaye] both arranged that for me”. He also acknowledged Tony Khan’s awareness of his interest in AEW and the mutual respect between them.
Discussing his pursuits after his release, he stated, “Yeah, so I’m investigating that and exploring it in real time”. Dijak admitted that he should have planned better prior to his release and currently, he is busy filling his calendar with his wife’s help. He mentioned his appearance at Blitzkrieg Pro, Beyond, Limitless, and RevPro as part of his current endeavors.
