Tony Khan Discusses WWE’s Potential Collaboration with Other Entities

Sports Illustrated previously reported that sources close to WWE President Nick Khan, one of the company’s “potential explorations” is to build a collaboration with other promotions.

AEW let Billy Gunn appear during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in 2019, where D-Generation X was inducted and then AEW stars Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, and Paul Wight previously sent in videos for WWE’s John Cena anniversary show in June 2022.

Speaking with Liam Crowley of ComicBook.com, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about the report.

“It’s an interesting thought. It would depend on the circumstance,” Tony Khan said.

In recent years, the world of professional wrestling has seen a surge in popularity and competition. With the rise of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) as a formidable rival to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), fans have been speculating about the possibility of collaboration between the two promotions. WWE President Nick Khan has expressed interest in exploring such partnerships, and AEW President Tony Khan recently shared his thoughts on the matter.

According to a report by Sports Illustrated, Nick Khan has been considering various options for collaboration with other wrestling promotions. This news has sparked excitement among fans who have longed to see dream matches and crossover events between WWE and AEW. While nothing concrete has been announced, the mere possibility of such a collaboration has generated significant buzz within the wrestling community.

The idea of collaboration between WWE and AEW is not entirely far-fetched. In the past, there have been instances where both promotions have shown signs of mutual respect and willingness to work together. For instance, AEW allowed Billy Gunn, a former WWE superstar, to appear during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in 2019 when D-Generation X was being inducted. This gesture was seen as a positive step towards bridging the gap between the two companies.

Furthermore, AEW stars Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, and Paul Wight sent in videos for WWE’s John Cena anniversary show in June 2022. This exchange of goodwill demonstrated that there is a level of camaraderie and appreciation for each other’s talent within the wrestling industry.

When asked about the potential collaboration with WWE, Tony Khan responded cautiously but with intrigue. In an interview with ComicBook.com, he stated, “It’s an interesting thought. It would depend on the circumstance.” This response indicates that Tony Khan is open to exploring opportunities for collaboration but also recognizes that certain conditions would need to be met for it to happen.

While fans may be excited about the prospect of seeing their favorite wrestlers from both promotions facing off in the ring, there are several factors to consider. The wrestling landscape is highly competitive, with both WWE and AEW vying for viewership and market share. Any collaboration between the two would need to be carefully planned to ensure that it benefits both parties without compromising their individual identities and fan bases.

Additionally, contractual obligations and exclusivity agreements may pose challenges when it comes to talent sharing. Wrestlers are often signed to exclusive contracts with their respective promotions, making it difficult for them to appear elsewhere. Overcoming these obstacles would require negotiation and compromise from both WWE and AEW.

Ultimately, the possibility of collaboration between WWE and AEW is an exciting prospect for wrestling fans. It represents a potential shift in the industry and could lead to groundbreaking events and matches. However, it is important to remember that nothing has been confirmed yet, and any collaboration would require careful planning and consideration.

As the wrestling landscape continues to evolve, fans can only hope that the dream of seeing their favorite superstars from WWE and AEW come together becomes a reality. Until then, speculation and anticipation will continue to fuel discussions among wrestling enthusiasts worldwide.
