In a fresh interaction with TV Insider, Tony Khan, the President of AEW, was prodded concerning the speculation about Ricochet possibly exiting WWE. Khan refrained from sharing his thoughts on the matter, instead opening up about the dynamic between WWE and TNA Wrestling.
Here are a few significant points from the podcast:
Discussing WWE’s collaborative association with TNA Wrestling, Khan stated: “Ever since the inception of AEW, we’ve been keen to connect with renowned wrestling organizations globally. Our bond with New Japan Pro Wrestling has progressed since 2021 and led to a joint event like Forbidden Door. As we near the third such event, this marks a new high in collaborations between wrestling promotions. It’s exhilarating to see stars from CMLL and Stardom along with top-notch wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling competing with AEW celebrities. I’m forever welcoming collaborations with esteemed wrestling organizations worldwide. The sense of unity in global pro wrestling surpasses historical records, which is a great positive. As top AEW stars compete in Tokyo’s Wrestle Kingdom, the fans can consistently expect high-quality collaborations between AEW and New Japan. The upcoming Forbidden Door promises to be one of the most accomplished shows any organization will host globally.”
Asked about his views on Ricochet, he politely declined by saying, “I would prefer not to comment on wrestlers who are currently under contract with another organization.”
Speaking about AEW’s imminent stint in Arlington, Khan expressed: “The City of Arlington was enthusiastic about collaborating with us. The arrangement paves the way for us to introduce AEW to one of the most promising markets in pro wrestling. The Esports Stadium in Arlington is a spectacular venue. We believe it can be a fitting setting for pro wrestling. In Texas, we have a passionate AEW fan-base. We thought it would be a thrilling time to usher in AEW as part of this summer series and engineer these compelling shows to bring a unique flavor to Saturday night Collision on TNT. It will project a unique aura, contrasted with our other shows like Dynamite or Rampage, and possibly form this pilot program. We aim for significant success and aspire to consistently present a string of fantastic events and deliver top-tier wrestling. And that too with an unorthodox business model. We have plans to tour across the country and aspire to break into new markets and explore different cities, but we are also thrilled about the summer series and establishing a solid footing in one of the most respected wrestling territories of all time.”
