Tommy Dreamer believes that those called up from NXT to WWE’s main roster should be simply happy to be on TV rather than set lofty goals.
WWE’s recent Draft saw several names exit NXT for the main roster, including Grayson Waller, Indi Hartwell, Zoey Stark, and Pretty Deadly.
Speaking about the Draft on “Busted Open Radio,” Dreamer said,
“NXT took the biggest hit from the [WWE] Draft. If you think about it, a lot of the people who got drafted aren’t doing anything on the main roster. That’s why I say the grass isn’t always greener, and you want to stay in your lane and be happy where you’re at — because you’re gonna get that TV time and get people vested into your character.
“You are learning, you are getting paid, and you’re in front of an audience that really loves you. It’s one thing to work at a training facility and show up on TV, it’s a whole different level when you’re traveling all the time and working with veterans. These [changes] are good for younger talents.”
NXT will kick off its two-week NXT Gold Rush event this week, which will see multiple championships be defended.
This week’s show will see the NXT North American title on the line and a triple-threat tag-team match to determine the next challengers for the NXT Tag Team Championships.
WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins will return to NXT this week to defend his title against Bron Breakker.
