In a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, pro wrestling veteran, Tommy Dreamer, shared his thoughts on a few notable developments in the WWE. In particular, he addressed R-Truth’s decision to ditch his signature braids and reintroduce himself as Ron Killings, his actual name.

Additionally, Dreamer shared his opinions on the unveiling of Mariah May’s new ring name, Blake Monroe, during a special segment on WWE NXT.

Please refer to the highlights of the podcast below:

Opining on Ron Killings’ name shift, Dreamer had this to say, “I think when you’re dealing with emerging talents, it’s appropriate to alter their name … if that name has built reputation and value, how is that going to be leveraged? In another sense, why R-Truth, Ron Killings, chose to switch, that’s not clear to me. His promo gave some insights, but why did we love R-Truth, yearn for his comeback and then suddenly he’s Ron Killings. That if this was a part of his contract stipulations—something he could claim as his own—I understand it.”

When it comes to Mariah May’s transformation into Blake Monroe, Dreamer noted, “I’m a fan of the name switch, I adored the vignette, it harkened back to Bewitched … it seemed to blend together elements of Marilyn Monroe with a resurgence of classic glamor. I was captivated by the whole thing.” Dreamer continued, “I don’t foresee fans raising an uproar.”
