On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Tommy Dreamer reviewed this week’s RAW match between Drew McIntyre & Cody Rhodes and praised the Scottish Warrior. He said,
“I thought it was a solid, solid opener. Both guys worked super duper hard. [Bully Ray] and I have both been in the ring with them, we know what they bring to the table. [It was a] very, very physical matchup. I enjoyed all the storytelling.
“If you can’t see the resurgence in Drew [I don’t know what to tell you.] He’s become next level, which is so good to see because a lot of guys, after they’ve been there so long, they kind of fit their role.
“He’s really, really stepped up, and then [we saw] a very, very surprising finish. And by surprising, I believe that’s the first loss that Cody has taken in a while. [We saw the] referee distracted, a lot of good stuff to get people really, really pissed. It continues to make Drew the bad guy.”
McIntyre’s victory over Rhodes marked only the second time Rhodes has been pinned in a singles match since his return to WWE in April 2022.
Rhodes’ only other singles loss since returning came at WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns, the man Rhodes will challenge at this year’s WrestleMania.
In a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Tommy Dreamer shared his thoughts on the RAW match between Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes, praising McIntyre’s performance. Dreamer, who has wrestled both McIntyre and Rhodes in the past, commended both wrestlers for their hard work and physicality in the match.
Dreamer expressed his admiration for McIntyre’s resurgence in the WWE. He highlighted the fact that McIntyre has taken his game to the next level, which is impressive considering how long he has been in the industry. Dreamer noted that many wrestlers tend to settle into a certain role after being in the business for a while, but McIntyre has stepped up and shown significant improvement.
The match between McIntyre and Rhodes had a surprising finish, with McIntyre securing the victory. Dreamer pointed out that this was the first loss Rhodes has suffered in a while, making it a significant moment. The finish involved a distracted referee and other elements of storytelling that added to the intensity of the match. Dreamer believed that these elements further solidified McIntyre’s role as the antagonist, or “the bad guy,” in the storyline.
It is worth noting that McIntyre’s win over Rhodes marked only the second time Rhodes has been pinned in a singles match since his return to WWE in April 2022. The only other singles loss Rhodes has experienced since his return was against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. This loss sets up an intriguing storyline as Rhodes will challenge Reigns at this year’s WrestleMania.
Overall, Dreamer’s review of the McIntyre vs. Rhodes match highlights the hard work and dedication of both wrestlers. McIntyre’s resurgence and improvement in his performance have not gone unnoticed, and his victory over Rhodes adds an exciting twist to the ongoing storyline. Wrestling fans can look forward to seeing how this rivalry unfolds leading up to WrestleMania.
