Tito Santana, a celebrated icon in the wrestling industry, will always remain indebted to his former employer, Vince McMahon, in spite of the considerable transformations in McMahon’s legacy over the years.
Santana’s journey with WWE started in 1979 and continued till 1980 before he once again became part of the company in 1983. During his tenure, he seized the Intercontinental Championship title in February of 1984.
Recently, while featuring on the “Wrestle Binge” podcast, Santana reminisced about his days with McMahon and expressed why he remains appreciative of the erstwhile WWE Chairman. In his words,
“Vince was the key decision-maker in moulding our careers. I’m really thankful for the career I had. I came to understand that it wasn’t a straight fight because if it were, I wouldn’t have been a champion. However, my athleticism and work ethic were beneficial for the industry. Undeniably, I was a good performer and a valuable asset.”
Apart from this, Santana notched up a two-time Tag Team Championship in WWE and was honored by being inducted into the promotion’s Hall of Fame in 2004, coinciding with the eve of WrestleMania XX.
