The WWE Universe nearly saw the crowning of a new NXT Women’s Champion this week in a title change that was not planned in advance.

This week’s show saw Indi Hartwell retain the title against Tiffany Stratton and Roxanne Perez, despite being taken out of the match briefly due to a leg injury.

Hartwell was taken to the back and examined by medical staff after landing badly on her leg following a splash by Stratton to the outside.

Bryan Alvarez reports that WWE made the call to change the finish and crown a new champion while Hartwell’s injury was being examined. He said,

“They actually changed the finish to Tiffany winning after Indi got hurt, but then Indi managed to make it back out to do the planned finish.”

Sol Ruca and Grayson Waller are also dealing with injuries after this week’s ‘Spring Breakin’ episode of WWE NXT.

Ruca’s undisclosed injury took place prior to the show which is why she was written off of TV with an attack by NXT’s mystery assailant.

Alvarez reports that the NXT Championship match between Waller and Carmelo Hayes was rushed to the finish when Waller suffered his injury.
